Barcelona Photography Workshops With Flair: Learn, Capture & Feel the Gothic Quarter

Photography is an art meant to be practiced, and there's no better place to hone your skills than on the artistic, lively streets of Barcelona's Gothic Quarter.

Learn the foundational principles of taking photos as I guide you through the history-rich squares and pathways of the Old City.

Some of the aspects of photography that I cover are:

  • Visualization: Visualize what you want to shoot. Then, use the techniques below to create the photo you want.
  • Evaluate a scene: Assess the elements of a scene and decide what you need to do to get the shot you want.
  • Light: Learn how to adjust your settings to take full advantage of the lighting in a scene.
  • Focus: Blurry pictures are the bane of the beginning photographer. Learn techniques that will help you say goodbye to blur (unless you intentionally want it).

Take your point-and-shoot to new levels. Learn to get the most out of your camera.
Take your point-and-shoot to new levels. Learn to get the most out of your camera.

Legendary American photographer Ansel Adams once said, "The single most important component of a camera is the twelve inches behind it!"

We agree with Ansel. What you learn about photography will make or break your ability to capture the perfect picture.

Our private photography tours are designed for you to get the most you possibly can out of your camera. Beginners and intermediate shooters will benefit most from our program.

As we walk through the photo-ready streets of Barcelona, we'll break down seemingly complex terms – aperterure, f-stop, ISO, shutter speed – into simple concepts. You´ll feel the important shift in which your control over your camera goes beyond your camera's control over you.

That little green box on your dial that indicates the automatic setting? By the end of your private tour, you'll have the knowledge to kiss that little green training-wheel goodbye.

Barcelona's historic Gothic Quarter will serve as the backdrop for your photography tour. Our professional photographers will teach you how to visualize your photo, then apply the technical aspects of the craft to make that visualization a reality.

Learn techniques that you can apply to real life, day-to-day photographs as we walk through the Quarter´s quaint streets and plazas

Instantly apply the principles you learn in the following areas of photography:

  • Visualization: Visualize what you want to shoot. Then, use the techniques below to create the photo you want.
  • Evaluate a scene: Assess the elements of a scene and decide what you need to do to get the shot you want.
  • Light: Find out how to adjust your aperture and shutter speed based on the available light.
  • Focus: Blurry pictures are the bane of the beginning photographer. Learn techniques that will help you say goodbye to blur (unless you intentionally want it).
  • Framing: Use natural objects within the photo to frame your subject.
  • Dynamic Range: Learn how the contrast between the darkest and lightest parts of a scene can influence your shot. Negotiate the presence of shadows.
  • Perspective: Look at common objects from a different viewpoint.
  • Depth of field: Use your camera's aperture and lens to make your subjects pop.
  • Flash: Don´t be scared to use it. It can be your best friend, not your worst enemy.
  • Movement: Add movement to a shot to give the viewer a sense of being "in the picture."

Photography Programs for Companies: Building a Team, Frame by Frame

Barcelona Experience offers your team of employees a professional, well-organized series of photography workshops that cover the essential aspects of taking captivating photos.

I combine our three-part photo workbook with hands-on experiences that allow your team to apply in the streets the principles they learn in the classroom.

My photography workshop can be used purely as a learning experience, or I can craft a custom photo competition in which teams compete against each other to take photographs that most accurately reflect individual principles taught in our workshop.

I also can incorporate our workshops into a photo treasure hunt, in which your team explores Barcelona, camera in hand, as they search for clues that lead them to the some of the city's most famous landmarks and buildings.
